We just published a new poetry collection from Cathy Park Hong, one of our most startlingly original poets. In Engine Empire, Hong examines the collective consciousness of fictionalized boomtowns in order to explore the myth of prosperity. David ‘Cloud Atlas’ Mitchell calls it, “Novelistic, meditative, offbeat, and soulful.”

"I don’t create redemption for my characters," Hong explains in an interview with The Paris Review. “The narrative of redemption is a false and lazy conceit in art. Redemption through the act of violence is avoiding culpability.”
