Ingredients:

• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 5 tablespoons unslated butter, room temp.
• 2 large eggs, room temp.
• 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/4 teaspoons table salt
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
• 1/2 cup lowfat buttermilk
• 1/3 cup boiled apple cider
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• Canola or safflower oil for frying
• Cinnamon-sugar (1/2 cups sugar mixed w/ 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon) or confectioners’ sugar for sprinkling.
